Position: Financial Controller/Vice President of Finance
Reports to: CEO, Chairman of Board / Board of Directors
Company Overview:
We are looking for an experienced, proactive, results-driven, and collaborative individual to manage and optimize our organization’s financial performance, lead our day-to-day accounting team and operations, and advise the CEO on long-term financial strategy. We are a rapidly diversifying company comprised of multiple subsidiaries and have grown in recent years as a result of merger and acquisition activities, forming Ascend Companies, Inc in the process. We are a B2B firm that furnishes data, software and professional services primarily to the mortgage and banking industry. We are a closely held corporation.
Position Overview:
Duties will include managing accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations and GAAP, publishing financial statements on time, overseeing accounting operations including accounts receivable and payable across multiple subsidiaries, managing a finance department of 5-10 staff, analyzing financial data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue, optimizing profitability, coordinating auditing processes, supporting banker relationships, producing budgets, and ensuring accuracy of financial information. You will streamline our accounting functions and operations, provide financial analysis and reports, train staff on business finance issues, promote regulatory compliance, and promote our long-term financial health and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- High-level financial reporting and analysis
- Preparing financial reports including monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Analyzing financial data
- Monitoring internal controls. Oversee and supervise Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable departments across subsidiaries
- Overseeing and preparing income statements
- Coordinating the budgeting processes
- Managing financial transactions
- Streamlining accounting functions and operations into Netsuite from currently disparate systems across subsidiaries
- Developing strategic plans for optimizing financial performance
- Evaluating and managing risk
- Coordinating internal audit processes and assisting outside CPA, accounting firm with annual audit
- Developing financial strategy, including risk minimization plans and opportunity forecasting
- Regular budget consolidation
- Cash flow management
- Improving efficiencies and reducing costs across the business
- Stakeholder management
- Debt management and collection
Position Requirements: The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organized, and have excellent leadership skills.
- Master’s degree in accounting or equivalent. CPA license, strongly preferred
- Proven experience in finance management
- Good communication skills
- Strong leadership qualities. Will supervise all accounting staff and work closely with all other department heads
- Excellent, adaptive interpersonal skills including inspiring an atmosphere of respect, collegiality and professionalism within a accounting department with personnel of disparate backgrounds
- Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals including GAAP accounting practices, public and private accounting practices
- Auditing experience
- Compliance oriented – Thorough understanding and application of Federal, State and local rules/regulations and SALT issues
- Proficiency in accounting software – Preferred programs include Net Suites, QuickBooks desktop and online software
- Analytical skills
- Strong work ethic in remote and in-home office setting
- Maintain accurate accounting records for multiple business entities and prepare consolidates financial reports, records, and statements
- Ability to meet deadlines and monitor timelines for efficient month-end close processes across multiple business entities
- All other duties and tasks of accounting department
Position Compensation:
- Full-Time Salary-Exempt position. Salary $150,000 – 175,000 per annum dependent on experience. Year-End bonus discretionary based on personal and enterprise performance

Physical Requirements:
- Must have ability to sit or stand at desk for up to 8 hours
